Anthony's Coal-Fired Pizza
Posted by Lou & Hope on 01/30/2015
We usually love the pizza at the Wellington location and have been coming for a long time, but tonight the crust was much thinner than usual so the well done pizza crust became way to crispy and burnt. You can not have pizza crust that thin and cook it well done. It ruins it. Also the pies used to be so large but the size has shrunk considerably. We don't usually mind paying more for a pizza when it is as good as Anthony's used to be. Tonight we did mind.

The staff was friendly, so decent service, but for a flat pizza, $16 is a lot of money. The crust was burnt and hard to chew. I won't go back.

I noticed Anthony's pizza inevitably compared to NYC pizza and Italy. I've lived in Rome and am from New York City and think Anthony's falls somewhere in between, but mostly the pizza is it's own thing. I enjoy the broccoli rabe sausage pie and the wings. I don't considered it burnt, but cooked in a coal oven, which of course makes it well done. I like the pizza here as it has it's own flavor. Great service too.

Took my kids here because I thought we were missing something, having not tried it. We ordered a pepperoni pie and a white pizza pie. We were so disappointed. Starting with receiving burnt pizza. Yes I know there are signs that say their pizza is well done. I prefer my pizza well done and don't have an issue with that. I do have an issue with burnt pizza. There is a huge difference between well done and burnt! It was not pleasant. The middle of the pepperoni pie was tasty I will say. I however like to enjoy the crust and since it was a charcoal bricket it was ruined. The white pizza was unappetizing. It lacked flavor and was easily like eating cardboard. We would have much preferred ordering chain pizza. Service was ehh. Overall considering value for taste and money it was a flop. I would not recommend this place. Sad because we really went in with high expectations.

A couple things... 1) that's not well done, it's burned! Anyone from NYC, or has been to Italy, will tell you that. 2) the sides, as good as they may be, are getting smaller and smaller. I never mind paying for something THAT delicious, just give me something to show for it. Now for the good... I was going to the Wellington location and I will say, the service is very good. I never had issues or mistakes. The restaurant is kept clean, bathroom included, and the food was always hot and fast.

Place was empty and there were 7 servers behind us and we kept waiting from water or anyone to acknowledge we were thirsty; being it was 93 degrees out. We could not get one person to come to our table so we left and the girl in the group says, come again.....don't think so....

Great food and service. Pizza was done just right. Salad was very tasty and their wings w/caramelized onions are to die for.
