I took my sister to Bice recently for her Birthday dinner and we had such a wonderful time! I have always enjoyed coming to Bice over the years but it seems like the food is even better than I remembered and the atmosphere was so lively and fun. The Maitre'd was so warm and friendly to us, and our waiter could not do enough for us! We did not want for anything. The food was outstanding. We split an appetizer of perfectly fried calamari accompanied by a piquant tomato sauce; there were also zucchini and mushrooms that were tossed in with the calamari that were nice and light. We both had delicious salads; I had the Panzanella which happens to be my favorite and my sister ordered the goat cheese and beet salad. They were both excellent. For our main courses we had a pasta and a fish special. The pasta was Orecchiette with broccoli rape and sundried tomatoes with a light tomatoe sauce and the fish was Spigola which is a mediterranean stripped bass. The waiter sold me on it when he told be it was flown in fresh on dry ice. It was prepared in a Livornese sauce with a side of of sauteed escarole. All I can say is yum! It was such a great choice for my sisters Birthday. We had dessert of course. I had the coconut sorbet; so light and refreshing! She had the classic Tirimisu. The waiter also brought us a nice homemade assortment of Italian cookies. A nice touch. After dinner we rolled over to the "happening" bar area. It was around 10 p.m. when things really started to pick up. They have a dj on Fridays which I did not know. This place has the best people watching any where. It was all ages; every one seemed to be having a great time. It seemed like high season at one point. You would never know it was the middle of summer. After a couple of cocktails we ended our night. It was a really great experience over all. It is pricey but was so worth it!
