    Good food

I have been here a few times when I venture back to visit South Florida from Georgia. I try something different every time. Every thing I have tried from pizza to entrees all have been good.

Be careful or it will cost you

We went to Big Tomato last night ( July11) Their coupon said Lobster Dinner Buy one get one free $21.95 Not true. What they meant was buy a lobster dinner for $21.95 and get a second lobster only free. NOT a second dinner. Needless to say the poor waitress was deluged with irate customers. We ended up spending twice what we thought. The lobsters were delicious but there were a lot of angry people there last night . I dont think the management was subversive and I dont think he will use the same wording in the future . After we calmed down and ordered two lobsters each all was well but my $21.95 was in reality 44 bucks Their food is very good but I find it a bit pricey for pasta . For example spaghetti and clam sauce about 18 bucks or so..Nice place but there are much better values in Broward than Big Tomato with food just as good.

    Not recommended

This is the poorest excuse for Italian food I've ever experienced. The fried calamari appetizer was overcooked to the point of being rubber and served with a tasteless marinara sauce. The "hot" garlic rolls were served cold. The Fruit di Mare was a bed of overcooked linguine covered by an overwhelming mass of previously frozen calamari thay was again rubberized. The plate was circled by overcooked mealy mussels, and contained 2 shrimp, one scallop and 2 clams. Again, all overcooked. My wife had Shrimp Rossini which contained frozen shrimp on a bed of overcooked linguine that was all but a solid mass covered in an off-tasting sauce. The only plus to this place was the server who was both polite and attentive. She offered to bring some other dishes if we pleased, but our stomachs were already turning by meals end so we politely declined her offer of a second dose of misery.

    Wedding rehearsal dinner

We had our wedding rehearsal at big tomato and eat there fairly regularly. Great food and the rehearsal dinner we held there of 25 people was amazingly well catered. Gotta try!
