The service is as bad as the food is good
Family of four dined out. The food is excellent, and the prices can be excellent as well if you get there for the sunset menu. Unfortunately, the service ranges from absent to disinterested to surly & rude. If you don't mind poor service, and want really good food, take a chance.

Genuine Country French Food
If you want a great meal at a great price then this is the place for you. The waiters may be a bit surly at times, but, hey, this is a french restaurant. They serve as close to the real thing as far as country french food is concerned, prepared by a french chef-owner who serves consistently delicious full course meals. The desserts are fabulous. Try to go on a day when they have pear tart. You'll love it. The atmosphere is that of a french bistro which is what it is. But it's all about the food. Go.

Great Prix Fix Authentic French
I have been going here for years. Very authentic french cuisine. The prix fix menu is a great value and allows you to sample different dishes. I am usually torn between the french onion soup and the starter salad - they have a great dressing from Provence region. The escargot is excellent. My favorite dish is the duck - always cooked perfectly. the desserts are ok. I went with a group of students learning french and had a great time trying to order in french. The servers are very kind.

Disappointing dining experience!
For my mother's 82 birthday, my sister and I chose to take our mother to Bistro Provence, and now we are so sorry we did. After reading all the reviews and all of us enjoying good French cuisine, we thought that this restaurant would be a slam dunk. The noise level was off the charts, the atmosphere not any better than a diner and the tables were on top of one another, with chairs back to back and no privacy at all. We could hear the discussions from all the tables that were around us. There were 3 menus available, a sunset dinner, a price fixe menu, and an a la carte menu. We were relegated to the sunset dinner menu, as that was the only menu that our server gave us. They undersold this customer! Our waiter was not around long enough for us to ask him for the other menu's nor he around, period! I have been in the restaurant business for many years of my life, and can honestly say that the service was subpar. I have been treated better as a 'greasy spoon diner'. This waiter was arrogant and rude. I guess he forgot that he lives on gratuity. Upon our ordering wine by the glass, we sat there forever and no wine was brought to the table. After almost having to physically grab our waiter, he said that 'he forgot' and brought the wine. The salad was limp and the one choice of dressing (allegedly only one choice) was disappointing. Once our entrees were delivered, the waiter never came to the table for any follow-up and upon my mother asking for another glass of wine and what the dessert choices were, the waiter rudely replied "first I'll get you the wine and THEN I will talk to you about the dessert." This is customer service? We were totally at his mercy and he possessed no people skills whatsoever. I would rate his service skill set an F for failure! At home, I decided to call the owner and register the complaint for the whole evening. I called the owner and his response was as limp as the salad.

The chef is the best
At the Bistro, you will get friendly service with a touch of french class. If you wish to have someting special, you came at the right place. The special touch and french savoir faire of the chef and owner will bring you to the south of france. Try the escargots=it's a good start. Wines are very well priced.. At bistro provence after two meals you will become friends. They know how to treat their friends. Vive la france!

great first visit
enjoyed our first visit for sunset dinner. the food was excellent, the atmosphere welcoming and the service attentive. we sought out this venue because of its reputation as being wine friendly. as such, i must register three complaints. dirty glassware, no table side chilling for white wine and 300% markup on winelist. next time, will pay the corkage and bring my own bottle.
