Open less than three months, we lunched at Bricktop's in Palm Beach, Florida last week and enjoyed it very much. It's much better than what has been at that location. We hope it improves. We started with delicious lobster bisque and guacamole appetizers: very tasty, fresh, appropriately hot or cold and quickly served along with toasty, crusty bread and a glass of cabernet. Waiter was very pleasant and efficient. The entree's side of sautéed spinach, however, was bitter and nearly inedible and my son's delicious burger's french fries accompaniment were inadequate. Both need work. But the Palm Beach salad (crab meat, avocado, shrimp and egg) was fresh, good sized and tasty. I like cold dishes served properly chilled and they did so again here! Hot fudge sunday was our shared dessert served, inexplicably, with soup spoons not properly elongated ones fit for this messy purpose (needed to minimize sticky fingers and to facilitate reaching over the table to grab some). Fudge not up to northern standards but for Florida not bad. Bricktop's was lots of fun except for the ultimately successful credit card check out experience which dragged out about half an hour. Their credit card machine failed to authorize the charge because, I'm told, of its failure to function properly, not a problem with my card. This problem (which they tell me has happened before) should be handled ASAP.
