The cost is high and the food is unappetizing! I like the Norton and I patronize it. It would be nice to have a pleasant Cafe to relax in between exhibits but the food is pretentious and just plain bad. Most recently, I had a curried squash soup that had vinegar (?) in it and the curry was far too strong (tasted more like a Balti seasoning). They charged six dollars for eight ounces of tea. My partner had a chicken flatbread that had little taste and uninspired execution. It’s not good enough to give clever names to dishes, you need to know how to prepare, how to cook them, and what shouldn’t be served (Vinegar in soup? Really?) The Café itself is a bright space but the tables and chairs show wear and are reminiscent of a college cafeteria. The Norton should consider a caterer that is up to their standards…nothing clever, just good, tasty, and manageable selections. I know that this review sounds harsh but the food is atrocious. If you want to spend money at the Norton, donate to it directly. Skip the Cafe!
