Being from Maine, I am more than experienced with New England seafood. After waiting a few weeks for the new Okeechobee restaurant to settle down, I took the plunge, never again. Outdoor patio doesn't allow smoking, the inside was so cold and the AC so strong we felt like we were in a wind tunnel. The food was over priced but the topper was the order of scallops. Never in 60 years have I ever seen an order for SIX scallops cost NINE dollars, and to top it off, it was six PIECES, not even whole scallops. The manager did apologize, but do not offer a substitute or any other comp. We paid for our chowder and left, never to return.

    lobster roll rip off

$20 lunch (before 3:00pm)--- $24 after 3:00pm for a lobster roll. It's not that difficult to figure out how to be price competitive Was one of their very first customers before tables and chairs arrived---unfortunately, they got greedy with the price.

Go at your own peril! We went for Lobster Rolls. When we saw the menu, the rolls were $25. That was when we should have gotten up and left, since the prevailing price is $18-$18.99. Alas, we made the mistake of staying. The lobster rolls were loaded with mayo, and the lobster, which was abundant, had no taste. The first thing that came to mind was that it had been refrigerated for some time. The sides were no better, nor was the clam chowder. This restaurant is overrated and overpriced. It is even more disturbing when you know that the lobster fishermen are having a hard time making it. There are times when we have eaten in a restaurant and been disappointed. We just don't go back. Never have I written a review, but Chowder Heads deserves this one. The staff was pleasant and efficient and they deserve better. Never again.

    The real deal

This is our new "go-to" place for fresh seafood.....steamed clams, shrimp..... do try the new england style clam chowder! It is the best and will keep you coming back for more. I have never had a lobster roll before and loved it. Chocked full of sweet tender lobster. The atmosphere is very casual, come as you are and be treated like family! We enjoy sitting at the bar to chat with the owner or outside near the little garden!
