When we arrived we checked with the server as to whether the 20% off coupon we had was valid. We were regular customers of this restaurant. She said she'd check with management and came back and said that it was. When we received the check the 20% discount became 5%. We sought out the manager who pointed out the fine print at the bottom that said the coupon couldn't be applied to other promotions by the restaurant. Since we had arrived before 6 we had ordered off the "Twilight Menu" a feature which has been at Chuck's ever since I can remember, and therefore were not entitled to the discount. I reminded her that we had specifically enquired as to the validity of the coupon and were not advised that it did not apply. We gave her the option of honoring the server's word or resting on the fine print. Her choice - the customer be dammed. Hard to believe in these difficult economic times. We won't go back, there are too many other customer-friendly choices around.
