What a difference!
Trying every Indian option in Dade since early 1990s, including many now closed (I still miss Punjab Palace on Kendall). Every visit to Imlee left us disappointed enough to stay away for years, eventually trying it again with same result. Well, patience pays! Last night's dinner was terrific. No, Imlee's prices are not as low as those at some Indian restaurants, though there were many options between $14 and $20. But, the food was exceptional, and we'll be back soon to explore the interesting menu further. And, I must admit, as good as my "Jeera Chicken" was, I am intrigued as to what makes the "Chicken Rogan Josh" worth $30. Baingan Bartha house special was great, too. If prices slightly higher than (typically very low) prices at other Indian eateries are why Imlee survives where others did not, I will pay. And, a heads-up to vegans; you need to try this place. We had one odd experience: greeted shortly after entering, we were asked if we had reservations - then left at the door for a few minutes before we were seated. We saw the same happen to others. I was considering leaving, when we (2) were finally shown to a table for four. That was a nice luxury, as Indian food can crowd a table. Nice place settings, and atmosphere pleasant, though still a small room in a typical South Florida strip mall, we had no complaint. Only two Indian beers on menu, the standard "Kingfisher Premium" ("imported" from a brewery in Saratoga, NY) and a 24 ounce "Hayward's Lager," which I found a pleasant change of pace. I thought service got off to a slow start, but once the food started to arrive, we were very well-attended. We wrapped up with a few cookies from the Italian place next door, and a coffee would have made it perfect (and kept me up all night!). In all, Imlee really impressed us this time, a most welcome surprise. We can't wait to return and explore the massive menu and two pages of specials, where I noticed many offerings that seemed unfamiliar.

Very good, but VERY slow
Been there many times and the food is terrific!!! However, be prepared to wait at least an hour for your food. We always get take out as the restaurant is small and gets quite crowded.

Excellent Indian in a Delightful Setting
Superbly good Indian food in a small intimate setting. Dishes are in the $15 range and are worth every penny. Reliably good food that we've enjoyed for the past two years.
