Because of our negative first impression of Josef’s Table we will not be returning.… We arrived at approximately 5:15PM on Friday (12/20). The entire dining room was empty. The hostess asked if we would like the window table in the ‘lounge’….we said we would prefer a quieter area. Note there were 3 gentlemen at the ‘lounge’ bar and they were speaking quite loudly. The hostess asked us to wait and she returned with a female employee – this woman verified that we did not want the ‘lounge’ table and proceeded to check the computer. We asked if there was a problem-she said no and then asked if we thought we would be finished by 7:15? We looked at each other – both of us thinking ‘what kind of restaurant is this?’ We were made to feel very uncomfortable. We told the woman we would be finished by 7:15 and she escorted us through the lounge to the very first table in the dining room…still where we could hear the conversations from the bar. Our server Miranda was extremely pleasant. We placed our orders and were served our salads…when we finished we asked if bread was served (?) as we had bread plates. Miranda said bread is served and shortly after a very nice young lady came over with warm bread and apologized that the bread was not ready when we were served our salads. Our dinner entrees were very good…but while we were eating our meal four employees (managers?) had a meeting not 8 feet from our table…even though the entire dining room was empty! Their conversation was conducted loud enough that we could hear…certainly giving us the impression that we were ‘invisible’ and not valued as customers. Each one of these things may be minor on their own but all happening on our first visit left a lot to be desired. We live in an area that has many restaurants that serve very good food but what sets them apart is their service and how they treat their customers. There is no question that Josef’s Table served us a very good meal but because of the reasons we’ve stated – our first visit will be our last visit. BTW…we left the restaurant approximately 6:10PM – well before 7:15! Except for 2 tables-the entire dining room was still empty.

We had no food on our table for 35 minutes, when we finally got one small roll each. ALL of the food was overcooked and had no taste. The escargots tasted like rubber, the duck breast was cooked to the point where it was hard as a rock, the fish flaked apart completely and also had no flavor. The service was non-existent. And it has the noise level of a foundry. every surface is hard, nothing to absorb the noise. You could hear every conversation for three tables away. They did take the escargots and duck off the bill, though.

We waited about a half hour to get our drinks to the table. ( We were told the bartender did not show up. The server we had was very good , he did his best to please us. The food was just not coming out of the kitchen. We sat for over two hours and could not wait to get out . The food we ordered was good but for sure not worth the wait

While there is nothing inexpensive, although fair, for what you get on the menu during the season , the three course summer menu is real value and covers the entire regular menue.. The food is prepared with extra care and so far after three visits we have yet to find a dish that is not 1st rate. The duck is almost Paris like. Appetizers could be less creative and traditional and the deserts are OK. Service, is very professional and attentive. We will continue to return.
