    Try it again!

We were looking for an Irish bar and stumbled into Kelly's. My other half was overjoyed to find PBR on tap and thoroughly enjoyed it while I ordered a coke. We both ordered cheeseburgers to test the kitchen. After waiting 45 minutes for our order, we got the most astounding steak fries with a burger. You'll notice the burger didn't get top billing in that last sentence. We asked for our burgers to be cooked through (well done) as we were told they normally serve them medium and were told it would take extra time not realizing just how long that extra time would be. When they finally arrived, they were well done and fairly tasty. I downgraded my rating due to the fact that the first thing one can taste is the overload of garlic when biting into the burger although it did have good flavor and was moist. On the other hand, I can't say good enough things about the steak fries. We learned they are freshly cut for each order! The service was friendly but once again downgraded ratings as the staff didn't enter the order in a timely manner, hence the 45 minutes to be served. Also, I'm not sure where the breakdown occurred but my burger had the wrong cheese, I ordered Swiss and got American and it also had pickles on it which I had specifically requested to leave off. No matter, at that point we were starving and I didn't want to risk another 45 minute wait to change out the cheese. At that time, I didn't know there had been a breakdown in communication with the kitchen which had caused the delay. We will definitely try this place again as we learned by meeting the owner, he's only had the place for 3 months. And just maybe they will also put more than 3 Irish dishes on the menu while they're there so we could really call it an Irish bar and not just a wannabe!
