Lil Reds Cookin

Been coming here for Sunday brunch. One of the best places for breakfast in Fort Lauderdale and the atmosphere is great. Food is extremely reasonably priced as well.

This place was a great lil spot to stop by my wife and I have dinner on Valentine's day and returned for breakfast the next morning. If you ever find yourself nearby stop in and have a great time.

Great place. No fancy puff. Just real food and good service. Quite pleasant staff and you could be in and out or hang awhile. Location, very convenient. And fast, they are always ready. Other customers always have been aware of their fellow diners in a respectful way. And to end, a very good menu always willing to change as you like a bit.

Lil Reds is a place that is okay. The sides are average, the cole slaw could be creamier. The chicken had no taste unless you pour a lot of sauce on it. May go back just to see if that one time was the norm. I have been to the best BBQ joints in the country, but this place falls way short.

The food has a nice down home taste. The pepper corn muffin tastes like something your Momma would make. My husband had the sliced pork sandwich, as he was eating it a few strange noises kept coming from his side of the table. So I'm thinking he enjoyed it since he could form no words. To sum it, we'll be back tomorrow!

This was my absolute favorite bbq place for the past 18 years. When I worked nearby I went at least 2x a week sometimes even driving down from Coral Springs on weekends. It seems though that since the original owner died and his son has taken over the quality of the food and service has gone down somewhat. On my last visit my friend and I ordered our usual 1/4 chicken and 2 sides, mine white, his dark. While mine was fine his chicken was red and a little bloody close to the bone. I told our waitress who apologized and took the meat back. A woman came from behind the counter and informed us that their meat came out pink because of their cooking process. I explained to her that having been a patron of that restaurant for many years , I was aware of their cooking process but that there is a difference between a pink smoke ring on the surface of the meat and bloody red meat near the bone. I asked if she had seen our meat and she said no and walked away with an attitude. The meat came out the 2nd time perfectly. After we ate we ordered the key lime pie (always a favorite) to share, but after taking a bite we noticed it had an off, rancid taste. I informed our waitress who again apologized and made a joke about the restaurant having a bad day. Again the woman from behind the counter came over and told us there was nothing wrong with the pie. I asked her to taste it and she tells me that they (the staff) had all eaten from the pie the night before and that it was fine. I said that maybe the pie was past it's prime or that it had been left out. She again insisted that there was nothing wrong with the pie and walked away in a huff! I looked around for the manager or any long time employee that knew me...no luck. I've had friends comment since that the quality there has gone down. I'm reluctant to go back because I don't want another unpleasant experience. I may give Lil Red's one more chance cos I'm hoping that this visit was just a fluke and I really love this place and want to keep enjoying it.
