Los Magueyes in Miami Lakes serves the best Mexican food in South Florida, hands down. Better than many offerings in Mexico, the food is authentic, fresh and delicious. The service is friendly. It's a small place and not visually impressive from the outside, but the food makes up for everything. The prices are right where they should be. I highly recommend it.

This little restaurant is great. love the mole. By far the best ever. However, I ask for it on the side that way I can add it to all the plates. I love to bring clients to this place. It is unique, and they always feel I take them to my secret food spot. Plus, place is always super clean. Yes, perhaps a bit expensive but similar to other comparable restaurants. If your by miami lakes check it out!!!!!!!!

This place is worth the drive from South Miami. It's a hole-in-the-wall place but the food makes up for the small space(but there's tables outside as well). I always order the Tacos al pastor - it is hands-down the best tacos ever! It has pork, a few pieces of pineapple (for a bit of complementary sweet + savory flavors), cilatro!!! Portions are huuuge for what you pay for. I DEFINITELY recommend this place.

It is funny how some people reviews a Mexican restaurant in Miami as better than eating in Mexico. No offense, but that shows your ignorance about Mexico and Mexican food. Anyway, this place is ok. They satisfy your needs for tacos for a while. Best: their Buche tacos, very tender and juiciy, well prepared. Worst: they serve tacos with rice and beans.

I have to admit, of all the Mexican restaurants I have ever been to this is the best. Let's be clear, I am not totally nut's about Mexican food but this place really get's it done. I was recently in Cozumel, Mexico and the food there didn't even come close to being as satisfying as Los Magueyes. The staff is beyond friendly and service is always fantastic. However, for me the absolute star dish would have to be the red salsa they bring out with the chips in the beginning of the meal. Totally addictive you will be asking for more and more of it. It's a great place for a quick lunch. Unlike the last reviewer, I don't think this place is at all expensive. The prices are actually really reasonable. I recommend the Chicken Flautas, the Steak quesadillas and the burrito Michoacán, also the Mole is spectacular. It's sweet but definitely not overbearing. If you like authentic Mexican, this place...in my opinion does it better than Mexico!

I settled to order the fajitas ($12.95) since it had beef and vegetables (onions, bell peppers, tomatoes) - the ONLY dish in the entire menu to have such a combination. Then... the food came out. I tried it, and I was surprised - the tortillas tasted fresh (definitely an achievement for any Mexican restaurant in Miami)! The fajitas came out to be very good. The chicken quesadillas were also really good. I felt like this restaurant can hold its own even in Texas. The ambience and decor are also nice - very Southwestern. The bathrooms are clean and nice. And the snowball dessert tempts me (fried vanilla ice cream). Oh, for chocoholics, don't come here, or get your chocolate fixing elsewhere - there's no chocolate offerings for dessert. Not even a chocolate candy in the candy bin. I went back for the second try... the prices were still exorbitantly high for this kind of food, in my opinion. The meat didn't seem to be of a high caliber, and the onions were too sauteed. The tortillas may have been store bought but then cooked on the premises again to bring out the "freshness." All in all, this is still the place for Mexican food in Northwestern Miami-Dade as far as I know.
