    Favorite local Chinese food

We've bern going to Mr Chen's Hunan palace for 15 years. It is a family run restaurant and we never had a bad meal. They are very accommodating with dietary problems ( garlic allergy) . The long time staff are friendly and polite and give great service. Great crunchy noodles, great selection and yummy food. Everything comes with soup, egg roll or chicken wing, main dish/rice and dessert. It's our local place to go.

    Disappointing

I ordered a take-out from this restaurant last night. House Special Soup was OK but lacked wontons, which are standard whenever I ordered from other restaurants. Crab Rangoons were OK but nothing spectacular. House Special Lo Mein were noodles with chicken and carrots only; usually when I order from other restaurants, Special Lo Mein includes pork, shrimp and various other vegetables. This Special Lo Mein from Chen was edible but seriously lacking. I'm never ordering again from this place; my search for a good Chinese take out in Delray continues.

    My Go-To Chinese Restaurant

I grew up eating Chinese out with my family almost every Sunday. This place reminds me of those experiences...only better. My wife and I started coming here a few months ago and it never disappoints. Living in Boca there is never a shortage of good places to eat. There are fancier Chinese food options available in town, but if it's left up to me Mr. Chen's is my preference. The food is always fresh. The service is solid and is a terrific value. They also never nit pick you about making minor changes to the faire. Other Chinese restaurants often charge you if you want to substitute certain types of vegetables. This is not the case here. One of the most difficult things to do at any good Chinese place is deciding what to order. My personal favorite at Mr. Chen's makes that choice a bit easier. It is called Chinese Five Delicacy or something to that effect. It has chicken, shrimp, beef, pork, scallops and just about every vegetable you could want! It is awesome! The best part is that it also has a bunch of fried soup wontons thrown in for good measure. Are you kidding me! It might sound like too much for one dish but I assure you if you can't decide on one dish it is perfect. The decor is typical Chinese restaurant decor...nothing to write home about. The place gets slammed by the King's Point/Century Village crowd so you know the food is good! You simply cannot go wrong here. Highly Recommended!!!
