Palomillas done right...
In Miami just about any locale that serves a variation of Latin food serves "Palomillas" -- well, this place is mainly dedicated to Palomillas, even though they list their surf-and-turfs and other cook-to-order dishes. I came to this place with friends and our initial course was a 'Crema de Malanga' -- I've had two really good Crema de Malangas in Miami. They've mastered the art and there are no traces of 'artificial mashed potatoes' watering the malanga flavors. (The location is spacious and well lit. The ambiance is friendly and very well paced. No rush.) We continued to our main entree, the Palomilla, they prep the steak with multiple marinades or toppings: sauted onions, mushrooms, plain, etc. etc. etc. I requested my steak to be cooked to a medium-rare term, surprisingly enough, it came Medium-Rare... unlike many other places. Most of the time I ask for medium-rare and get heavy-burnt. Specially a palomilla which is a very thin slice of meat. Over all, I was very satisfied with the food, the price, the service and the location. I would recommend it to other friends.
