Portofino Coal Fired Pizza
Posted by Kim on 11/09/2013
My husband and I love the pizza here...that is the only reason we return. The last time we decided to get a take-out order. When we went to pick it up there was no record of the order. The hostess was the one taking the orders and writing them down on scratch paper in between seating people...no wonder it got lost. I complained to the manager and he got ugly with me, tried to convince me that he does a good job "running a $2 million dollar business"...uh, ok. If you go expecting good food and lousy service, you will not be disappointed.

Me and my husband were regulars here until our experience with new management/staff. All I can say is disappointing. We are always initially greeted with a warm welcoming from the hostess but instead no hello or even acknowledgement. Instead, I think their conversation they were having was far more important then arriving guest. Our server was inattentive. it took him at least 10 minutes to greet us and even longer to get our food. The server have had to been poorly trained because he had no knowledge of the drinks or food. Management was even more horrific, one of the managers stood by the bar flirting away with the bartender during a busy night. All I can say is we are never coming here again. This is a poorly ran restaurant.

Me and my husband are from Boston and we come down to ocean reef a few times a year. We've been to portofino a few times, a lot if the faces around there are new and all of them were very pleasant. Immediately after walking in we were greeted by a young man who sat us. He said that his favorite thing on the menu was the roast beef sandwich. Our server whose name I can't remember was a very nice lady. We're ordered pizza and enjoyed it. The manager actually came by our table and asked us how everything was, which was a first for this place. The food has always been great and it seems the service much better. On our way out the young man held the door. Who had asked us how everything was and suggested writing a review. I'm more than happy to oblige. Thank you :)

I went there to try something new and Baaam! New I got... It was a Coconut Hawaiian Pizza. It's my new favorite pizza, the best pizza ever. They should rename it "The Epic Pizza"...

Yes we felt like we were in the twilight zone. If I weren't typing on a phone I would really go off on how disappointing literally EVERYTHING was at this place.. The food had plenty of promise...if only it was delivered within the hour but that didn't happen. I'll put it this way... The olive oil base asked for turned out to be an entire bottle of oil coating the pizza, complete with plenty to run off the tray on the table and in our beers... Then the specialty chicken spinach pizza where they forgot to put the spinach on to cook and thought it better to dump a handful of raw spinach on and just say "oh, this is how we serve it." Needless to say we just denied that pizza and tried going for the oil slick of a pie that was left. And our favorite... The waiter, although nice at first, almost seemed like he was taking a bet from the pizza makers on how completely fake he could be dealing with the situation.

Took my mom for her Birthday! We all loved it! The Menu is extensive and the food was delicious. Our waiter was very attentive and offered my mom a dessert on the house! I highly rate this place. And of all the Coal fire pizza places i have been in this one is the best so far!
