Route 9

Route 9 is a great neighborhood restaurant. Very laid back, nicely decorated. Food and service are excellent. I also like that the owners, Jeremy and Paola, are there making sure you are happy. We had a large table and were able to try many items. My favorite was the Pappardelle with braised short rib, wild mushroom and truffle ragu. The pasta is home-made and the meat and sauce are very flavorful. Another great dish was the Oven Roasted Pork Chop, with an apple chutney, Manchego grits and kale. The combination of flavors was amazing and the pork chop was cooked to perfection. A scallop special was also delicious too. We started with the Cobb Salad, with a great mix of greens, avocado, tomato, pickle onion, and a nice vinaigrette. Prices are fair and they also have an excellent wine list.

Heard great things about this place, but the first (and only) main dish I had was disappointing. Homemade gnocchi with butternut squash in butter: pasta and bits of squash floated in a soup of what tasted like oil. Everyone says the food here is great so guess I was unlucky, but I won't be returning.... Menu seemed to offer gourmet diner food, with gourmet prices.

We have had about 10 meals here with many different people, and we are always given kudos for the choice of restaurant. What a great addition to Miami, but especially for us Coral Gables crowd.

From appetizers to main courses, we enjoyed everything. Fresh and flavorful.
