This is not the Rusty Pelican I used to go to!

They did a "renovation" recently, changed decoration, food, staff, etc. Oh my god! I went back because of my great experience from previous years. NOW: poor food, small portions, overpriced. Service staff is not well trained or happy, they don't give you what your expecting or paying for..I won't go there again..feel offended and disappointed! I better eat at home!

    Worth the toll

Excellent and exciting menu, perfectly executed with attentive service. Silkiest gazpacho I have ever tasted. The wild mushroom soup with truffles is also excellent. Great food in a perfect location. What more could could one desire?

    Poor service!

I set up a dinner for my boss to have dinner there with some fellow employees that were visiting us from our Purchase, NY office. I had made the reservation for 7PM, and when the 6 attendees arrived at 6:45PM, they were advised the table was not ready. No problem, the attendees went to the outside area to have some drinks before being seated. Around 7:15-7:30PM, after no one had come to get them to seat them, my boss goes back inside to the hostess to check on the status. The hostess says it would be an additional half an hour. My boss asked if there was anything she could do, as they had guests from out of town and the reservation was in fact for 7PM. She then said it would be 10 minutes (please note, the restaurant was not packed at all, nor was there anyone waiting). The hostess told them to go back outside until they were ready. Around 15 minutes later, the guests were escorted to the table. They sat them at a table against a wall, with no view, for 5. When they noted it was 6 guests, the hostess said "we will add a chair to the side". My boss suggested if they could maybe join two tables of four, to give them a bit more room. No problem, they said. One of our guests, an Executive, mind you, then asked if they could get two tables facing the water, or maybe a longer table so it would be less work. A gentleman that was assisting with the set up (a server assistant, I believe), turned to her and just rudely says no. This gave a poor impression to our guests- our company hosts many functions and dinners there, as we constantly have visitors from out of town coming and we like to take them somewhere nearby (our office is on Brickell). After this experience, it is safe to say I will think twice about selecting the Rusty Pelican due to its lack of regard for our guests.

    Best view in south florida

I have been going to rusty pelican for years. I have to say one of the reasons i go is for the view. The food is good but overpriced the service is hard to find. I wish you could bring back the old rusty pelican with the great sunday brunch for the entire family and good friendly service that would always be available !

Excellent, but need more service personnel

Excellent food and the view was the best! The only thing that was disappointing was the service..our waiter was excellent but he had too many tables to wait on...therefore our service was slow....I would recommend this restaurant....

    Poor Choice for Sunday Brunch

I grew up in Miami, and I remember the Rusty Pelican as a lovely place for dinner and brunch, so I was looking forward to Sunday brunch in one of my old haunts. Big mistake. 1. A reservation did nothing to get us in, so we had to wait almost 30 minute to get a table. 2. The tacky "music" is so loud you can't hear yourself think. 3. Food is midling at best: rubbery scrambled eggs, sticky pasta with a sub-par pesto sauce. Good tasting, but overcooked roast beef. Excellent fresh fruit. A large dessert bar, but all choices fairly similar and completely unoriginal. 3. Service is practically non-existent. I practically had to beg for a spoon to eat my ice cream before it melted. This mediocre experience came in at $84.00 for two. Not even remotely worth the price. The best thing about the whole experience . . . the view. I don't know how it rates for dinner these days, but choose another spot for brunch.
