We made 8:45 reservations on Open Table for this restaurant. We had never been here before but the reviews were positive and the menu looked promising. We arrived at 8:40 and there were no tables available. We were asked to wait at the bag but there were no chairs available so we ended up standing in the doorway with several other couples. We were finally seated at 9:00 which wouldn't have been so bad except we were seated next to the piano and this old lounge singer that bordered on tacky. We made the best of it until we realized at 9:15 we had not been seen by a waiter. The waiter from the next table claimed he didn't see us (not sure how that is possible) and finally came to our table at 9:30. We ordered everything at once anticipating less of a wait and making it easier on this befuddled waiter. We ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees. Our drinks came pretty quickly. Appetizers arrived at 9:50. Not too bad considering this was Valentine's night. However our entrees arrived over an hour later! By this time the restaurant was thinning out, things weren't as busy. My husband watched while our plates sat on a rack for almost 15 minutes. We just knew they would be cold. Nevertheless the food arrived, was still hot and was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the seafood risotto. Our waiter didn't come back to the table until finally my husband flagged him down. Needless to say he returned quickly with the check and less than 5 minutes later to collect the bill and his tip. I encouraged my husband not to tip. We are normally big tippers because we appreciate good service but the service from the hostesses to the waiter was something expected at a fast food chain at best. Despite the flustered service (possibly due to the V-Day rush) the restaurant is quaint and romantic, the bartender was excellent and the food was phenomenal. We will definitely return.

Our last dining experience at Sage left us sorely disappointed in the food quality. For these prices, one expects fine French cuisine. Instead we were served coq au vin in a small but deep bowl where it was quite challenging separating the meat off the tiny bones, having nowhere to put the discarded bones to the side, you had to leave them in the bowl and fish around between the hen meat, the discarded bones and the gravy, which was too salty. It is also served with a varity of vegetables that are served barely cooked, are rock hard to the point of being inedible. All this going on in the bowl was quite unappetizing. The creme brulee for dessert was just barely passable, too runny, not enough vanilla.

We enjoyed the Beef Bourguignon and lamb shanks. The hot fresh crusty bread was exquisite, with fresh ailoi sauce. Rich flavors and hearty portions, in a relaxed but elegant atmosphere. Server was excellent. Banana bread pudding was a perfect ending. Highloy recommended!

Took my parents recently and we didn't quite know what to expect. Turned out to have a nice atmosphere and everyone loved their food. It was an all around wonderful experience. We will go back.
