I had read a number of reviews and was inclined to give Sumo a look. I'm glad we did. I've been eating sashimi and sushi for years, the fish at Sumo is fresh, well prepared and served in generous portions. In addition, my wife ordered the steak and chicken teriyaki dinner, an excellent preparation! Give Sumo a try, you won't regret it.

My friend took me out for my bday and we ordered many different rolls and dishes and one was better than the other. Very quaint, cozy and friendly place. Very reasonable prices. I have been here 3 times already in a month.

Sumo Japanese Restaurant is hands down, THE best sushi I've ever had. I've had sushi all around the world, this one tops them all. The chef/ owner is amazing and brings creativity and flavor to each dish. The sauces are all homemade, and the fish is always fresh. I can't express enough how much I love this food!

Drove down from Boca to try it. What a great place! Sat at the bar, which I really recommend, and got to know the chef, Rudy. Me and my wife had the best Dragon tuna salad and sushi. Who knew this place has been around for years! Tried eel, Again since I have never found it to be that great. This was awesome! Now have to go back to try a roll with eel and Rudy has tempted us that if we call ahead a day or so, he has a Mexican ceviche he can make that is unlike anything we have tried. Challenge accepted!

I love Sumo very much. The owner and main sushi chef is amazing. He makes me and my boyfriend's food exactly the way we love it every time. My boyfriend and I have been going here for years! I haven't had sushi like Sumo's anywhere else. I have withdrawals if I don't eat here at least once a week! If your water is empty "Just Ask to Fill it Up Please". It's great!

Before going here, I read multiple reviews & the menu looked good. However, they brought me the wrong sushi roll, which they stuck the cheap imitation crab in instead of eel and salmon, then charged me for the more expensive roll that I didn't receive. The roll I did receive was sub par. Furthermore, my water sat on the table EMPTY for the last 30 minutes of my stay--that's a huge "pet peeve" of mine.

I have been going to Sumo for over ten years. It is a small restaurant owned and operated by a married couple. The husband is the chef and the wife is the server. The food is unbelievably great! My favorites are the Chilean sea bass, hamachi kama, rainbow trout, and sashimi deluxe.I have never been disappointed in the food. They are both very personable and friendly. The service is fantastic, and the atmosphere is informal and comfortable Most of the customers are regulars, because we know that the food is great, and we look forward to our next conversation with them and the other customers. Sumo is the Deerfield Beach Cheers (with the emphasis on eating instead of drinking). I am an FAU professor, and my first choice for off campus meetings with students and other faculty is Sumo.
