Taj Indian Restaurant

Great food, large portions, very friendly staff! Nice varied selection of dishes. We all loved it!

My girlfriend and I were here for Valentines day dinner expecting a pleasant meal in a comfortable environment - we got quite the opposite! It was an unfriendly, unsatisfying visit. We began our dinner with our 'soups' and appetizer and immediately had a bad feeling. What they are selling as soup is unflavoured water with some lentil puree and cilantro - no amount of salt could make it taste good! Next, our entree came out and ended up being not as we expected. We received a frozen vegetable medley with cabbage and cauliflower as a meal, which also was not flavoured and was missing key ingredients to make it the dish it was supposed to be. When our server came over to ask how we were, we told them that we had come here many times in the past and not had a disappointing experience until tonight in hope that he would be able to remedy the situation for us. We had asked to speak to the owner who told us that he will not refund or replace our dish because he would have to, god forbid, please his customers and make a replacement dish. After talking with us and leaving us unsatisfied, he printed our check and had our waiter bring it to us and waited for us to pay. Of all the few times that I have had a problem at a restaurant, this was the first time that, even after talking to a manager or owner, I was not even slightly satisfied or felt good when I was leaving. I will not return here ever again.

I lived right around the corner from this place for months, and I really enjoy Indian food. Maybe I'm a little bit spoiled because I lived in NYC for a while and had some amazing experiences, but I went here exactly twice, despite the dearth of other Indian food in the area. It was ok, but the food was rather unimpressive. The service wasn't attentive despite the low turnout, and I didn't really enjoy most of the entrees I had there. The place is kind of dingy, and the Tikka Masala in particular was forgettable. Not a terrible place, but certainly overpriced and not worth my time. I still live in the area, but I haven't been back in months.

My wife and I searched high and low for good indian food ever since we decided to defect from another Indian restaurant. We drove north to Lake Worth and south to Ft. Lauderdale....nothing decent. Then we found Taj. Food quality is amazing. Flavor and taste....stunning. If you like good indian food and know the difference between good and garbage.....go to Taj. It will not disappoint.

This is definitely our favorite Indian restaurant in S. Florida. Having tried various Indian restaurants in other states, this one definitely has their act together. Reservations are not required, but when we make them, we are treated like royalty. We end up with not just one...but TWO waiters taking their time to make sure we are taken care of. The owner/manager makes sure to come by our table to see if we're satisfied (of course we are!). I will say that being polite and kind goes a long way at this restaurant. I've seen other patrons act very rudely to the staff, and when it's time to box up leftovers to take home, the staff will just leave the boxes on the table and have the patrons box up their own food. When we go there, we show appropriate appreciation and praise for their efforts, and they always have a waiter come to our table to box up our leftovers for us. Meals can be a bit pricey, but its' worth it for the wonderful service we receive while there. I definitely recommend this restaurant for a wonderful evening with the family or a special event meal.

A friend and i sat for an hour an a half waiting for our food, trying to get our waiters attention was impossible. He would not even come near our table to offer us another drink during the long wait. After trying to flag down the waiter we finally got up and left without ever receiving our food. We called the manager to complain and he proceeded to yell at us for not realizing how busy they were and never apologized to us for the rude service.

Coming from the UK where we were completely spoiled for choice of good Indian food, we were delighted to discover the Taj,as it offers excellent food, at great value. Lamb and beef are always tender, chicken is white meat, and shrimp are big and juicy. The sauces can be prepared to suit your level of spiciness too!
