Tarks Of Dania Beach

Not a restaurant, but a real inferno. People say that it is "friendly". For locals maybee, but not for visitors. The noise level is crazy, the service is cold and pusshy. No fun there, just screams, loud music and uncaring service. Could be acceptable in quiet days of october, but avoid it in March.

Tarks was the first place I ate when I moved to South Florida 15 years ago and I'm still in love with this place! I love the atmosphere and friendly staff! The food has never disappointed me and I have tried it all! Make sure to make room for key lime pie, killer!

Have only been there once. Was just thinking about going back tonight, but in looking up their hours (which is what got me to this pg), realized they've closed for the day. First, let me say the atmosphere can be off-putting - its extremely small, very crowded & very noisy & if you sit at the counter (where I was lucky enough to get a seat), you may find yourself (as I did) being right where the "cooking action" is taking place. I personally didn't mind (except for a bit of a grease smell that clung to my clothes) - and I did feel very bad for the overly-worked cook (who I later slipped an "individual" tip to). My location obviously enabled me to order quickly - but given the crowd, I thought they did a great job of getting out the food to the customers. The fried clams, which I ordered, came on a heaping plate with fries - cooked the way I like. I thought the meal was great & the price ridiculously low. Not so great were the fried scallops I greedily ordered to go - serving size was relatively meager compared to the clams and the quality of the seafood & how it was fried left something to be desired. Will definitely return for the clams, however. A few final remarks: Tarks does serve beer & wine for those (like me) who like alcohol with their meal. The menu is somewhat limited- so be sure to look it over before you go to ensure they have a dish you like. And keep in mind, the place is very "low maintenance" - almost like a "hole in the wall" type diner, bordering on "divey" (tho everything is clean). And, one last "tip", the "regulars" are very friendly to "newbies" - if you aren't into a little socializing, this place may not be a "fit" for you.

Not in the greatest area, cramped always, very small place, server mostly only pays attention to locals/friends of hers, new customers don't get much attention. I had the gator bites - they were unappetizing. Tasteless, soggy, tough parts to the meat- I've had better at a food truck! Decent quantity of bites, quality wasn't there. My girlfriend had the Mahi Mahi salad and she said it was dry, tasteless, and overcooked. Salad itself was soggy - just no quality to the food. Wings looked decent, didn't try them though. Overall from 1 to 10 I'd give it a 2. Really not worth trying. They do have wings and beer specials which is probably what keeps people coming. Not impressed with it and won't be goin back!

Was very good. I really like the atmosphere. My type of place. The food was delicious and the price very reasonable. Live in the Fort Myers area but would come back when visiting the Fort Lauderdale area.

I was looking for the best conch salad I could find. Found it. The food was great, cheap and delicious. Counter service and just a few tables outside. Make no mistake the crowd goes here for the food.
