The Green Owl

For any restaurant to survive this long, with a cash only business, serving food only until 3 p.m. they must be doing something right … and they are. The servers aren't overly friendly until they recognize you (takes a few years -- about 10), but they are certainly pleasant enough and they are really busy so cut them some slack and remember you aren't paying $35 for breakfast. I've been going there for about 15 years roughly once every few months or so and the food has always been fresh, tasty and home cooked. The atmosphere is genuine and has a really pleasant local feel. If you want to have your butt kissed while you pay $8 for and egg, go to the Ritz in Manalapan … if you want the same egg served by a family business while you enjoy the feel of real people, eat here … it's great. Chill out … don't be in such a rush :)

Great breakfast place. Was there twice last week with the kids and grandson. Friendly staff and fresh food!

Me and my husband were really looking forward to breakfast at the Green Owl but were so disappointed. We waited to eat outside which was not a big deal because there were tables available inside but we choose to wait but what really did it was after being seated, a family of four was seated after us and their table was next to ours and the waitress totally blew us off and went to them first. Then come to find out its only a cash only restaurant. When we asked about an ATM machine the waitress rudely pointed and said go across the street. So at that point me and my husband were so turned off with the waitress and her attitude we only had a juice and coffee. I can't say the food was bad because we didn't stick around to taste it but if it was anything like there service I'm glad we left.

Service is fine if you are there to have a nice relaxing meal on the Ave., if you are in a rush and need to get back to the hustle and bustle, do us all a favor and either order your food ahead of time or go elsewhere.

I usually fly down to So. Florida a couple of times a year for a few days and never miss eating there once or twice! Great food awesome and fast service! Should be eating there more often since buying a home nearby!

To whoever reviewed up there ^^^ about poor customer service. Im sorry you must have had a bad day there. They usually are all such sweet servers and really try their best even though that place can get crazy packed. I've been going there since I was 3. I am 20 now, and am never satisfied with breakfast anywhere else. You can say breakfast food is breakfast food, but what makes the green owl great for one is there eggs (they don't just crack 100 eggs at the beginning of the day and put it all in a big bowl, they crack them to order), they're toast is top notch (as unimportant as that sound), bacon always cooked to perfection. and the best homefries you will find! Overall, they take a lot of pride in having their food out quickly, and extremely fresh tasting. A suggestion, nay, a requirement for anybody visiting the beautiful Atlantic Avenue in Downtown Delray Beach.

Yes, their food is out of this world good and I can say it is the ONLY thing that's keeping me coming to this place. Their service is poor, from rude to just plain unpleasent. I waited almost 20 min before someone acknowledge me.
