We have lived in the area all our lives and go to River House only on special occasions as it is pricey. Last May we went for our anniversary. We had to wait about 1 hr and 30 min for a table. We sat at the outside bar on the water as it was a nice night and drank a few glasses of wine. I was shocked when we got up to go to our table that our bill was almost $70 for a few glasses of wine. Once we got to our table, we were told Prime Rib only comes in a 25 oz size and you can't get it in any other size. Our watress commented you can take the rest home. Now why would I want to order a 25oz steak and take half of it home. I ordered another steak that came with scallops and the steak had a lot of grizzle in it. My husband sent his steak back twice as it was raw and was never cooked as he request it. He gave up and ate a few bites and took most of it home. The watress always seemed like she was rushing to get away and never gave us her undivided attention and didn't even care it was our anniversary we were celebrating. The restaurant was busy and she was always hard to find. She blew off our issues with the bad steaks and never sent the manager over to talk with us like most restaurants do. I guess when you're that busy and don't please the patrons that occasionally come, its not that important to them. My comment to my husband when we left was we could of had a better steak and service at a chain restaurant and saved a ton of money. He agreed with me. We left there spending over $250. That was hard to take considering what we got for our money. We will NEVER go back there again.

The times I have been it is ok but making a res is hard because they never answer the phone. Once there is generally good food and nice atmosphere but for my money other restaurants across the ICW are much better and ALOT less hassel

We live in the area and decided to go try Riverhouse again.. So happy we did! Yummy.. Food was perfectly cooked, service was outstanding, and the waterview cannot be seen anywhere that beautiful! Prices are alittle higher than they should be but the quality of the food is worth it.. WE WILL BE BACK!

First sighting is a bad lot for valet. Have never been there with a reservation, when it was called on time. Always have to spend time in the bar. Salad bar is shallow, and few items on it. High point was the anchovies! Wine service poor, list subpar, and the wine glasses not of good quality. Place in on the water, but no outside dining! Fish was not real fresh. Place varies a lot from visit to visit, but our snow bird friends like to go there do the sites.
