traditionally good stuff
This place surely does traditional NY deli sandwiches right. Don't expect paninis, goat cheese tarts or other unique Balthazar-like items. The clients are mostly older folks and families. And the staff is also composed of older adults. For such a place, excellent service is irrelevant. As long as you get your meal and aren't bothered every minute by your waiter, then there is no need to complain. We ordered hot sandwiches which were great portions and easily fill you up. I had a warm turkey pastrami while my neighbors had the regular pastrami. The meats were piled high and the breads were statisfying. I really liked my sandwich on the toasted thickly sliced Challah. I'm all for bread and anything doughy. The pastries are also evil and tempting (in a good way). We only had the rugelach which were fairly good and not too sweet (though not as crispy as I wanted them to be)...and I was drooling over the cookies and cakes. Overall, I'd go back since I'm a great lover of all sandwiches (from the classic PB&J [with nutella] to a grilled cheese with basil and prosciutto.
